 In his fine book Sanctifying Interpretation: Vocation, Holiness, and Scripture Chris Green describes followers of Jesus like this (83):

ex-centric - outside of ourselves

kenotic – emptying ourselves serving others

epicletic – dependent on the Spirit

Or in more colloquial terms, Christians are

Off center

Used Up

Powerless in and of themselves

And there’s the profile and job description for those who hope to follow Jesus!
